February Best Eats

It seems like just last week I wrote my Best Eats post for January, and here I am for February - time flies! February was always bound to be a good eating month: Chinese New Year, Valentines Day, my birthday... I wouldn't be surprised if I stacked on lots of kilograms this month compared to the previous few!

I loved seeing everyone's amazing food photos on Instagram for CNY - it seemed like it was a huge eating occasion for everyone, and it was great to see CNY and food bring people together to welcome in the year of the snake. I wish you all a fantastic Year of the Snake - may it bring happiness, health and prosperity!

So my February best eats are wide varying, but here they are!

Giant Pannacotta Lamington Cake - Flour & Stone

When I was thinking about my birthday, and what to do to celebrate, the first thing I thought of was the cake. And when I think cake, I automatically think pannacotta lamington from Flour & Stone. But for my birthday, I wanted a big one. Like, a giant one. And thankfully, Nadine was lovely enough to accommodate me!

So check out this delicious 4-layered monster... we fed 14 and there was still half a cake left!

Milk bread - Albion Street Kitchen

You can't even order this on the menu. It is complimentary. As in FREE. Can I just eat this bread for my three courses?

Served warm, impossibly soft, sprinkled with sea salt, and with a jug of rosemary olive oil on the side, I demolished the whole thing myself. K didn't stand a chance.

Chocolate dipped strawberries - Flowers by Fruit

Imagine chilling out at home, on a rainy Saturday, then the intercom ringing and it's someone with a delivery. Surprised, you schlep downstairs and the delivery is a huge arrangement of chocolate dipped strawberries - sent with love, all the way from Hong Kong. It made my day, and I spent the remainder of the rainy weekend eating juicy sweet strawberries dipped in gorgeous Belgian chocolate... thank you GA, much love!

Lamb Tagine - Kazbah

One of my favourite dishes - ever. I first fell in love with the lamb tagine at Kazbah a few years back and to this day, I still love it as much as I did that first time. Only available on their brunch menu, it is filled with heady spices that just blows any boring bacon and egg breakfast out of the water. I organised a brunch banquet for my birthday with 14 friends, and we all feasted like kings on this lamb tagine and much much more... (post to come!)

Red Velvet Cupcakes by Ramen Raff - Home Cafe, QVB

Last, but certainly not least, are these moist, more-ish red velvet cupcakes from fellow blogger and food lover Ramen Raff. Raff, alongside loving ramen, loves fried chicken, macarons, red velvet cupcakes and much much more. He makes undoubtedly the best red velvet cupcakes in all of Sydney - a gorgeous moist cake that isn't overtly sweet, and a delicious cream cheese frosting where you can really taste the cream cheese. Raff's red velvets are available from Home Cafe in QVB - or, if you're me, delivered in an exchange at Town Hall Station at 7.30 in the morning!

So there are my 5 best eats for February. I didn't do much cooking in February, so none of the eats are of my own creation... maybe I'll fix that in March!

February was a great month - many thanks to all my friends out there who celebrated my birthday with me... thanks for the laughs, the company, the fried chicken, the flowers, the macarons, the cupcakes and the strawberry bouquets! Hugs and kisses to you all!
